Efficient connection of education and economy through a three-day training in the City of Trebinje

Last week in Trebinje, a three-day training of mentors of practical classes for representatives of business entities was successfully realized with the aim of acquiring pedagogical competencies, and skills of planning work with students in practice.

The training was conducted within the project “Efficient connection of education and economy – improvement of practical classes in the sectors of catering and tourism, electricity and metal processing in the City of Trebinje”.

The organizer of the training is the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska in cooperation with the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Trebinje, and it is conducted by the City Development Agency, with the support of the City of Trebinje and the Fondacija Helvetas Moja Budućnost.

Rajko Mičeta, from the business entity “Ekoinvest” Trebinje, a participant in the training of mentors for practical classes, said: “The ultimate goal of this training is for students to receive quality treatment in the education system. This is something new for our business entity and we will certainly improve our views. After this training, we will dedicate more time to practical classes,” concluded Mičeta.

The director of the Trebinje Development Agency, Drazen Boskovic, pointed out that this is a very important project for the local community: “The third component that will follow is the purchase of new equipment and equipment in the Technical School and the Center for Secondary Schools in Trebinje. It is certain that the process of practical teaching will be at a higher level. ”

The Deputy Mayor of Trebinje, Slađana Skočajić, said that the City of Trebinje participates in the financial support for this project, especially emphasizing the contribution of businessmen.

The director of the Regional Chamber of Commerce of Trebinje, Veselin Savić, stated that this is the first training after the adoption of changes to the law, and that this is a system that is being built and it is very important to gain experience and staff with better and relevant knowledge.

The goal of training mentors of practical classes is to acquire pedagogical competencies, and the skills of planning work with students in practice.

The training of mentors was performed in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Secondary Education and Upbringing of the Republika Srpska, according to the training program for mentors for practical classes, developed by the Republic Pedagogical Institute.

As a support to the economy, a kind of incentive for adequate commitment to students in practical classes outside of school should be considered. “The incentive could also be in the form of providing a profit tax deduction for all entrepreneurs who have trained mentors and other conditions for quality practical training,” it was concluded on the third day at the pilot training of mentors in Trebinje.
