Vocational education in accordance with the needs of the labour market – exchange practices between Bosnian-Podrinje Canton and Zenica-Doboj Canton

The Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton with the support of the Foundation Helvetas Moja Budućnost, on June 23, 2020, held a webinar on „Exchange of good practices: vocational education in accordance with the needs of the labour market – example of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton and Gorazde“.

The webinar was attended by representatives of Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports in Zenica-Doboj Canton, Pedagogical Institute Zenica, companies (hosts of practical classes) – Arcelor Mittal, Mann+Hummel, Pobjeda Tešanj, Heidelberg Cement, Krivaja Metal; representatives of secondary vocational schools, namely Mješovita srednja škola (Secondary School) Tešanj, Tehnička škola (Technical School) Zenica, Mješovita srednja škola (Secondary School) Zavidovici, Mješovita srednja škola (Secondary School) Kakanj, and the Chamber of Commerce of Zenica-Doboj Canton.

The specific topic of the webinar were two items that are important for connecting schools and business entities, namely: (a) a plan for conducting practical classes in economy subjects, (b) a diary of practical classes/internships performed at the economy subject.

During the webinar and exchange of experiences shared by Admir Kurtovic, participants were introduced to the methodology of drafting both documents, with the approach, key results, implementation challenges, and lessons learned in relation to the specific context of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton.
